This policy explains what we collect when you use Makers Nearby ("the marketplace"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the marketplace, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash).
Buyer details — delivery addresses, contact phone, and order history.
Vendor details — shop name, location, descriptions, product listings, and payout account connection.
Messages — conversations you have with other members through the marketplace.
Technical data — sign-in sessions and basic logs needed to operate and secure the site.

How we use your information

To create and manage your account and process your orders.
To connect buyers and sellers for fulfillment, pickup, delivery, and support.
To send transactional email — order confirmations, messages, application updates, and receipts.
To calculate Florida sales tax and apply our commission.
To keep the marketplace safe, prevent fraud, and comply with the law.

How we share it

We share only what's necessary to run the marketplace:

With other members — a seller sees the contact and delivery details needed to fulfill your order; a buyer sees the shop's public profile.
With Stripe — our payment processor handles card details and payouts. We never store your full card number.
With service providers — such as our email delivery provider, acting on our instructions.
When required by law — to comply with valid legal process or protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies & sessions

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cart. These are required for the site to function and are not used for third-party advertising.

Data retention

We keep account and order records for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. You can ask us to close your account at any time.

Your choices

Review and update your profile, addresses, and listings from your account.
Request a copy of your data or its deletion, subject to records we must retain by law.
Opt out of non-essential email; transactional messages about your orders will still be sent.

Security

Passwords are hashed, payments are handled by Stripe, and access to data is limited to what's needed to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

The marketplace is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy as the marketplace grows. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
