Makers Nearby is a curated marketplace for the people who grow, bake, build, and make things across Florida. Think of it as the warmth of a farmers' market with the convenience of shopping online — a little like a curated Craigslist, a little like Amazon, but built entirely around local producers.
Why we built this
The best things in any town are made by hand, in small batches, by people who live down the road. But those makers usually have to choose between a once-a-week market stall and a national platform that buries them under mass-produced imports and opaque fees. We thought there should be a third option: a storefront for local goods that's easy to buy from, fair to sell on, and proud of where everything comes from.
How it's different
- Curated, not crowded. Every shop is reviewed and approved by a human before it can sell.
- One flat fee. Makers pay a simple 8% commission — no listing fees, no subscriptions, no games.
- Truly local. Pickup and delivery are coordinated between you and the maker, county by county.
- Real money to real people. Payments go straight to the maker through Stripe, minus our flat cut.
Where we are
We're launching in Northeast Florida — the Gainesville and Jacksonville region — and growing outward across the state from there. Florida sales tax is calculated automatically by county at checkout, so buying local stays simple and above-board.
